paducah_1

-paducah, KY, isolated in the western tip of the state. my father relocated here years ago, the area where great rivers converge
(the ohio, mississippi, tennessee). the center was architecturally charged, lazy, and cozy.
-another illustration showing differences in church-dispersal in the US and spain.

tampa

a very tampa thanksgiving. map done on I-4 leaving Ybor City, Tampa's port-industrial-turned-hip district.

now that i have a cell phone, i've been testing its limitations. although basic, it rocks the PAINT application. being a passenger through florida cities, i have a chance to create cognitive maps quickly of where i am. a friend and i recently spoke of (hypothetically?) completing an architectural project using only PAINT

current obsessive graphic.
it makes so much sense!

new obsesh being large houses, their luscious environs. how the sheer amount of highway effects our everydays.

to saint augustine for a few

this happened the last time i spent more than one day in san agustín
i think this time will involve bapping (bike mapping?)
and trips to monstrous jacksonville (always commentary-fueling and ridic)

19.9.10

back to EE.UU!

i will be broadcasting from the US come september 23. from the little town of
Ormond-by-the-Sea.

no, really. go away summer.

16.9.10

bye, summer

imagining hanging clothes from la catedral. a warm weather tradition taken to the extreme.

eixample dreta

finally. UGLY TOURIST SERIES!
the city is always a tourist cesspool, but particularly in late summer.
por eso, i've chosen to document only the most offensive, foulest, and fabulous.

currently at the CCCB, fascinating expo documenting and comparing the 3 catalan-speaking mediterranean powers.
immigration, tourism, infrastructure and origins are discussed. i found a comparison of the three cities' ancient cores particularly interesting.
duh, i'm me.

dance it all away

in il parco sempione, there was a large tent set up complete with dance floor
and energetic people of an 'older' persuasion sweating it out to classics from
gloria gaynor to grease. this one diva in particular stole the show with her saucy moves,
making it impossible not to at least sway to the rhythm. i don't know where she is from,
where she learned the moves, but i'm glad she's alive.

be back soon!

while recently digging through archives, i've once again unearthed my last project from college - -
a library of sorts. it was done in collaboration with kaitlyn pietras. the first post with final images can be found here!

some research on how spanish cities typically expand led me to these
interesting maps of mad & bcn during their respective expansion periods.

catalogging.

i was recently bestowed with the stressful but fun honor of creating
metáfora's final show catalogue-logue-logue....
dramatics aside, this is the cover and the back was reversed. we wanted SIMPLE.
